She began at Golden Books, where tracking children’s entertainment brands was Patty’s prime responsibility. She enhanced the publisher’s assortment of titles by licensing in blockbuster properties such as Power Rangers, Scooby-Doo and Superman, while simultaneously balancing the portfolio with evergreen entities including Rudolph, Lassie, McDonald’s, Sesame Workshop (then CTW), Garfield, Madeline, Precious Moments and The Beginner’s Bible. She then imported her licensee know-how into a licensor position at Enesco, a leading gift and collectibles resource. Patty developed a style guide and merchandise strategy for Enesco’s best selling collectibles brand, Cherished Teddies. Within four years, Patty introduced the soft, cuddly designs to products within the housewares, stationery, jewelry, home furnishings, infant products, crafts, games and puzzles categories. Patty led a family of 25 licensees to create a Cherished Teddies licensed goods presence that toppled $25 million in sales at retail. From there Patty joined Wilton Industries, a housewares/baking accessories manufacturer. As Licensing Director, Patty helped lasso must-have properties including Blue’s Clues, Rugrats, Teletubbies, Winnie the Pooh, Thomas the Tank Engine, Barney and Sesame Workshop characters. She also aided in expanding Wilton’s relationships with Mattel and Warner Bros. and grew the Barbie, Looney Tunes, Batman and Scooby-Doo merchandise programs. Patty’s licensing responsibilities for Wilton were vast. She was in charge of property evaluation and selection, negotiations, contract execution, product development, communications, marketing and sales. In recent years, Patty has worked closely as a consultant with General Mills, assisting in researching, selecting and acquiring new licensing partners. New additions brought to the program include Giftco for fundraising product sales, Sherwood Brands for food and housewares gift sets, The Bradford Exchange for collectibles, Hanover for children’s jewelry and accessories, Casa D’Oro for Italian gold charms and bracelets, Royce Hosiery Mills for socks and hosiery, and Mattel for die-cast vehicles. |
